Taste your way through the Catalan capital on a Private Barcelona Tapas Tour, an ultra-exclusive, award-winning experience in the heart of the city. We’ve handled the details so you can skip the crowds and go straight to the good stuff: real Spanish cuisine made by locals. Food is an essential part of Catalan culture, and no trip to Barcelona is complete without sharing tapas or “small plates.” Over two and a half hours, you’ll visit four of the city’s best tapa hotspots where you’ll get dedicated attention from your guide,  try a variety of traditional tapas and drinks, meet the locals who make them, and see hidden cultural gems along the way.

Your private guide will take you and your group on a walk through the city's trendiest, historic neighbourhoods. See Roman ruins in the Gothic Quarter before heading into El Born to window-shop at artisanal shops and art galleries, marvel at the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, and wander through picturesque squares. In between sights, try small bites like spicy patatas bravas, fresh pimientos de Padrón, and crispy fried fish paired with local wine, vermouth, and cava. From crunchy croquettes and unique Basque pintxos to paella and a Catalan dessert, you’ll treat your taste buds to the best of Spanish gastronomy and Catalan classics and learn about the history and evolution of this world-class cuisine.

All croquettes, no regrets

We’ll begin in the historic Gothic Quarter, the birthplace of Catalan cuisine during the Barcelona Renaissance period. This sets the tone of your gastronomic journey in a time-honoured tapas restaurant, sampling Spanish classics like croquettes, patatas bravas, and pimientos de Padrón, washing them down with a glass of perfectly paired wine.

Livin’ la vida bodega

This family-owned restaurant has been in the ‘biz since 1945 and is a true Spanish bodega; with a micro menu of just four tapas, it represents the simplicity of Spanish cuisine. Since it’s just steps from the city port, we’ll eat like the sailors from back in the day sharing cones of fried white anchovies or “boquerones”, and sampling butifarra, a traditional Catalan sausage. We’ll wash it down with a porrón, a communal wine jug from the region, and a glass of Spanish vermouth.

Keep calm, pintxo on

Learn about the origin story of tapas while breathing in the lively atmosphere of a traditional pintxos bar, just like in the Basque Country. Enjoy the interactive process of choosing your favourite pintxos.

Paella-lujah!

Toast to your newfound friendships with a glass of cava, a regional sparkling white wine and share an authentic paella, a rice dish originating from Valencia.

Did someone say dessert?

No food tour is complete without a sweet treat so we’ll finish with a traditional Spanish dessert, sure to leave a lasting impression on your palate.
